Portable Grey Water Tank

Since more and more campgrounds are adopting a policy of ‘self contained vehicles only’ (meaning you have to take your grey water (showers and washing up) with you to a dump point rather than letting it drain into the ground or under a tree) we decided to buy a portable grey water tank.

We found this wheeled 40-litre tank on eBay for $79 plus freight.

Blog Posts Update: Yes, I’m behind! I’m busily catching up on all of our posts from our recent “Opals and Dinosaurs” trip from the coast to Lightning Ridge, along the dinosaur trail and back to the coast. I have to catch up soon because we’re off to the ACC Mudgee Muster, and there are going to be more posts from that!

  1. Hi Marg and Rob. We were glad to meet you at the ACC muster and can now confirm we have place an order for one of these tanks. Thank you very much for bringing this to our attention.

    Enjoy your travels……

    • Hi Guys! Lovely to hear from you (even though I know you’re only about a dozen caravans away right now…) How convenient that we brought our tank with us so you could check it out!
Catch up with you soon… now to pay a visit to YOUR blog! (Hope you’re better at keeping it up to date than we are…)

  2. Hi Marg, just looking at your grey water tank where abouts do you store it when travelling? How is it for ease of emptying?

    regards Julie

    • Hi Julie,
We just stow it in the back of the 4WD. We bought it after our recent 7-week trip (when we decided we should get one!) but we didn’t need it on our recent trip to Mudgee, so we haven’t actually tried it out yet. It will be going with us when we head off in mid-November, so I’ll let you know!

  3. G’day Rob and Marg, the grey water tank is a great idea. Thanks for sharing. We really enjoy your Blog updates.
